Your HVAC system needs regular maintenance to perform at its best.  One of the simplest things you can do to maintain your system is to change your air filter regularly.  Clogged air filters make the system work harder and thus use more electricity.  Keeping allergens and dust out of conditioned air is important to the overall comfort of your home, but once the filter becomes clogged it prevents proper air flow through the system.  The fan that moves air through the ductwork must work harder.  Not only does this use more electricity, but it can wear out the fan motor before it’s time.

Cost:  $5 - $20 each filter
