By properly using ceiling fans, you can boost the efficiency of your HVAC system.  The simple tips that follow will not only improve the comfort of your home, but put money back in your pocket.

In winter, set the fan to force air toward the ceiling.  This forces warm air from the ceiling to circulate down into occupied space.

During summer, set the fan to blow air down into the room.  It doesn’t reduce the temperature in the room, but makes the occupants feel cooler.

Using these strategies can enable you to set your thermostat 2-3 degrees cooler/warmer than normal.  This will save a tremendous amount of energy over a year’s time.
