Caulking Windows

1112141_30697995Here’s a great spring time project that we should all do once a year - check your windows for gaps in caulking/sealant. Seemingly little gaps, when multiplied across numerous windows can add up to big energy losses.  This is a very simple project that can be completed in just an hour or two.

Caulking around your windows is a fairly self-explanatory project.  Just follow the manufacturer’s instructions.  Be sure the caulk you purchase is made for outdoor use.  This will insure that the caulk will hold up to the elements.  If you need assistance, the workers in your local home improvement center will be able to help you.

One more tip - pay the extra money and get a dripless caulk gun.  Without it, you will drip caulk all over yourself, your house, and waste a lot of money in the process.

I found a good video from Home Depot on how to install caulk.  It should clear up any additional questions you may have.
